Northwest snatched the lead late in the game in a 7-3 victory over St. Vincent-St. Mary on Saturday. The game was tied at three with the Indians batting in the bottom of the fifth when Alayna Jones singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. The Indians scored first when Jones was hit by a pitch in the first inning with the bases loaded. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ari Johnson put STVM ahead in the third with a towering 2 run home run. Anna Welsh tied the game in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double. Northwest blew the game open in the 6th when Jessica Smith and Jordan Marecek both drove in runs in the frame. Jensen Miller got the win for Northwest. She pitched seven innings, allowing ten hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one.The team totaled 11 hits in the game. Smith, Marecek, and Welsh each racked up multiple hits. Marecek and Smith all had three hits to lead the team.
