Despite seeing a seven-run lead whittled down by the end, Northwest still held off Canton South for an 8-6 victory on Saturday. The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Northwest collected 12 hits and Canton South had eight. The Indians opened up scoring in the second inning, when Katie Krulik singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. The big inning was opened up when Anna Welsh went deep with the bases loaded for her second grand slam of the season, and 3rd home run overall. Jensen Miller pitched Northwest to victory. She lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out 13 and walking one. Welsh threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Northwest tallied 12 hits on the day. Jessica Smith, Olivia Francis, Evelyn Butler, and Maddie Kurz all managed multiple hits for the Indians. Ashley Zwick led Canton South with three hits in four at bats.
